WaterbedWill it be good for my back? Surely it's too soft?

A waterbed gives the impression of being soft, but because of its ability to contour to the shape of your body it offers total support without the pressure points associated with hard sprung mattresses. Remember 80% of your body weight is fluid. When you sleep on a waterbed your body supports itself. Support, not hard pressure, is the answer to most back problems and with constant controllable warmth you are providing your joints, muscles and back with therapy while you sleep.

What if it punctures? Won't it flood?

The water mattress is made of a very durable vinyl. Unless someone makes a deliberate attempt to damage the bed with a sharp instrument it is unlikely to rupture. However if that was to happen the safety liner within the frame would contain any spillage. Any split in the mattress can then be permanently repaired (normally without removing the water) with the patch kit provided.

Waterbed Fibre BafflesWill it make me seasick?

While some people find movement in a waterbed relaxing, to others it has been the main reason for dismissing the idea. For years, Waterbeds Direct have been supplying mattresses in our beds with no movement. This is achieved by putting fibre layers inside the vinyl mattress. We can vary these to suit your requirements, e.g. 2 layer, 4 layer, 6 layer - the choice is yours.

Do I have to have my floor reinforced?

Every waterbed has a pedestal base which distributes the weight evenly. This means you actually exert more pressure on your floor when having a bath! Waterbeds can be safely accommodated in any type of house or flat, old or new.

Waterbed HeaterWill it cost a lot to heat?

Waterbeds Direct use an exclusive digital heater controller with a LED display. This is connected to a heater pad and sensor situated underneath the safety liner. Although plugged into the power supply permanently the thermostat controls your bed temperature 24 hours a day costing approximately 50 pence a week.

What will my waterbed look like?

Waterbeds come in many shapes and sizes. Softside Waterbeds, as the name suggests are designed to flex on the edges, making it easier to get in and out of bed, looking just like a conventional divan bed with the same headboard fittings. All our beds are available in a variety of sizes and we are confident we have the bed to suit you and your lifestyle.
